Whether you are using penne, fusilli or spaghetti, just add a block of cheese into the sauce and your soul satisfying dish is ready.
Cheesy pasta is a no-fuss recipe that can be ready in just a few minutes and does not require any special cooking skills. Just combine your favourite vegetables or meat with cheese and a few other seasonings and your sauce is ready. Finally add pasta to it and you are good to go.
Broccoli Cheese With Wholemeal Pasta - Serves 4

This hearty and creamy pasta dish made with broccoli, cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs and milk is a great dinner option.

Baked Broccoli Pasta
Ingredients
100 gms | Wholemeal pasta |
1 head | Broccoli, chopped |
200 gms | Cheddar cheese, grated |
1 cup | Breadcrumbs |
2 tbsp | Olive oil |
To taste | Salt and pepper |
Method
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the wholewheat pasta and cook according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- While the pasta cooks, bring another pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 2-3 minutes, until tender-crisp. Drain the broccoli and immediately rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process and preserve its bright green colour.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the brown breadcrumbs and cook, stirring frequently, until golden brown and crispy. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, blanched broccoli, and grated cheddar cheese. Season generously with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the pasta mixture to a baking dish. Sprinkle the top evenly with the prepared brown breadcrumbs topping. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
Spaghetti With Cheese And Sausages - Serves 8

Sausage spaghetti
Ingredients
300 gms | Spaghetti |
1 tbsp | Vegetable oil |
1/2 tbsp | Onion, minced |
1 | Bell pepper |
1 tsp | Garlic, minced |
500 gms | Sausage |
1 cup | Tomato puree |
1 cup | Heavy cream |
1 cup | Cheese, grated |
1 tbsp | Parsley, chopped |
Method
- Boil a large pot of salted water. Add spaghetti and cook according to package directions. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion, pepper, and garlic. Cook and stir for about 5 minutes, or until tender.
- Add the Italian sausage to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until browned and cooked through.
- Stir the stewed tomatoes and heavy cream into the skillet with the sausage and vegetables. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Toss the cooked spaghetti with the creamy sausage and pepper sauce in a large bowl. Stir in cheddar cheese and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Cheesy Penne With Veggies
Ingredients
1 | Bell pepper, sliced |
1 | Zucchini, chopped |
4 | Mushrooms, sliced |
1/2 | Onion, sliced |
2 tbsp | Olive oil |
1/2 tsp | Salt |
1/2 tsp | Pepper |
1 1/2 tsp | Italian seasonings |
2 cups | Penne pasta |
1/2 cup | Mozzarella cheese, shredded |
1/2 cup | Parmesan cheese, shredded |
3/4 cup | Green peas |
1 tbsp | Butter |
2 cups | Marinara sauce |
Method
- Preheat your oven to 230°C. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray a baking dish with non-stick spray.
- Toss the vegetables (bell pepper, zucchini, squash, mushrooms, and onion) with olive oil, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Roast them in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until tender.
- While the vegetables roast, cook the penne pasta according to package directions for about 6 minutes. Drain the pasta.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 190°C.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, roasted vegetables, marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, green peas, remaining salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until well coated.
- Transfer the pasta mixture to the prepared baking dish. Top with the remaining cheese and dot with butter cubes.
- Bake the pasta for 30 minutes, or until the cheeses are melted and the mixture is bubbly.
