The basic ingredients used by the Greeks were fresh cheese, honey, and flour.
History witnessed numerous variations of cheesecake where the pastry base was added and was seen as a tart. This variation saw eggs and tons of flavours. American colonies launched their very own cheesecake house and after a while, the New York Cheesecake was born! This cheesecake made its way to many hearts and the variation is widely savoured all across the globe. Ingredients

For the Cheesecake

600 gms | Cream cheese |
2 cups | Sour cream |
1 tsp | Vanilla extract |
4 | Eggs |
Pinch of Salt | |
1 cup | Sugar |
For the Crust
Quanity | Ingredients |
2 tsp | Unsalted butter |
1 ½ cups | Graham cracker crumbs |
1 tsp | Sugar |
1 tsp | Brown Sugar |
Method
- Start by preparing graham cracker crust by combining crumbs, brown sugar, and sugar. Mix everything well. Add melted butter and use a fork to firmly settle the batter into a 10-inch springform pan.
- In a bowl, add cream cheese and stir until smooth. Add sugar, sour cream, salt and vanilla extract, mix everything well and scrape the sides using a spatula.
- Gently add eggs to the mixture one after the other and ensure that the ingredients are combined well.
- Transfer the mixture to the pan and evenly spread the crumbs to the bottom and the sides as well. Preheat the oven to 160 C and bake the crust for 10 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow it to cool for a couple of minutes and use a knife to loosen the crust. Allow your cheesecake to cool for 1-2 hours before removing the springform ring from the pan and transfer to the refrigerator for at least 6-8 hours. Serve chilled and enjoy.
