Cheese Popcorn

Made with cheddar cheese, this is an easy and quick snack for evening cravings. Make it at home with this recipe.

​​Ingredients​

1/2 cup popcorn kernels (popped), 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 tsp chilli powder, 1/8 tsp garlic powder, 1/4-1/2 tsp kosher salt, 3 oz sharp cheddar cheese (finely shredded)

​​Step 1​

In a small saucepan, combine the butter, chilli powder, garlic powder, and salt.

Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the butter melts and begins to simmer.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully pour the hot butter mixture over the freshly popped popcorn in a large bowl.

Use a spoon or spatula to gently toss and stir the popcorn, ensuring all the kernels are evenly coated with the flavourful butter.

Transfer the popcorn to a baking sheet, spreading it out into an even layer. Then, sprinkle the finely shredded cheese generously over the popcorn.

Once the cheese is sprinkled, gently stir the popcorn again to ensure some cheese gets nestled in between the kernels.

Preheat your oven to the broiler setting on low. Carefully place the sheet pan with the popcorn in the center rack of the oven. Broil for 2-3 minutes.

Once the cheese is melted, remove the pan from the oven. Pour the cheesy popcorn back into a large bowl and give it a final stir and enjoy.
